Forgoten

The flame has burned for generations
from one wick
to another
reason is sustenance
on hearths a flame is conferred

it is nurtured in classrooms
emanating beams on
On Pallas's breast as a beacon
sage to the capricious
on hearths a flame is conferred

Progressively illuminated halls
as starlit ebony waxes
anathematized as Coyolxauhqui
pious conviction justifies
on hearths a flame is conferred

Large Hadron Collider

I'm thinking of traveling back in time to the 80's, and with the new Large Hadron Collidor (LHC) going online today, i see my dreams materializing--I'm hoping for more glam rock than cocaine, but if God bestows this curse i will not appeal my supplication. But, than again, a large black hole could spawn consuming the earth leaving nothing behind but remnants of a society that fueled Rodney Dangerfield; but, again, I'm shooting for the 80's, so this Rodney Dangerfield could be a good wing man. If, somehow, a black hole is created by the ions of lead shot over a 27 kilometer distance, would it not simply consume France and Switzerland? Hopefully more of France then of Switzerland, Swiss chocolate is incredible, and i can't imagine living my life without aspiring to own a swiss watch. Yet the success of the LHC could prove to disprove the logic of time; i mean we could have this entire dimension or social construct of time wrong, could we not? Maybe, Edgar Allen Poe was right in his The Devil in the Belfry, maybe society should abolish these abominations that allow capitalism to flourish and consume, or consume and flourish...I digress. Point being, tomorrow a jubilee of small particles will be shot in a circle to smash into each other for the purpose of science; to test the lives of theorists and physicists; the explanations, rationalizations, and imaginations of brilliant men and women will be tested. I'm hoping we discover the moon is really made of cheese, but i prefer to not be blatantly optimistic.

Humble Beginings

This is my first blog. I'm not sure what will arise from these blogs in the subsequent months, but i do know that i will be writing them frequently and without any direction in mind, so if i don't really have a goal in mind, it really doesn't matter what direction i take. So let's go on a journey nowhere, and enjoy the ride because its not the location i am seeking but the means by which i plan to get there.

Proposition Eight

I find it ironic piety has become the foundation for the yes on prop. 8 movement. The precepts and principles religion subscribes to are based on compassion, peace, and love; yet, these principles are frequently and consistantly replaced with self righteious propaganda. Unfortunately, apathy and indifference is transformed into fear and illogical behavior. Indeed, one can look at the genius of the rhetoric behind these campaigns and find the pathos appeal in the epicenter. Fear causes irrational thinking and impulsive action. Despite the logical and just appeals selfish and survival instincts take over all rational.
One does not have to support homosexuality to support no on prop. eight. Although our constitution states we are all equal, we can agree this is not an axiom. The desparity found within the past century manifests the opposite. The United States has made leaps and bounds; most recently, with the election of President-elect Barack Obama, but their is work still to be done. If Martin Luther King or Cesar Chavez were still alive today, they would not be short of causes. Proposition is not so much about marriage, as it is about equality. Closing the gap between the american dream, and the american reality is possible. Naysayers, may look to the past and consider it a feat to large for one generation to overcome as the farmworkers did against the farmowners, but collective action is the weapon of the masses. Its not that we are not screaming because we all certainly suffer from a myriad of injustice, but its that it is falling on deaf ears. We are not a quiet submissive group, but we need to band together and make one cause, one voice in solidarity; one issue at a time. Today, it is proposition eight; tomorrow, we work on closing the gap between the american dream and american reality.
I will close with a couple quotes:

"An injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere." Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Ghandi

"Anyone who trades security for justice deserves neither." Benjamin Franklin
